Safe & Sound CAC is now: Midland Child Advocacy Center
Midland Child Advocacy Center was originally founded in 1979 as the Midland County Child Protection Council, and has gone by the operating name of Safe & Sound Child Advocacy Center since 2007. The name change to Midland Child Advocacy Center (CAC) will make it easier for families, partner agencies, donors, sponsors, and legislators to understand who they are and what they provide to the community.
Midland CAC is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors composed of membership from government, education, law enforcement, health care professionals, and human service professionals. The CAC’s mission—to prevent child abuse and neglect and improve the quality of life for children and families—is fulfilled by coordinating existing resources, identifying a need for new programs/initiatives, and increasing awareness of professional education on issues affecting child abuse and neglect. The CAC will continue to provide child abuse and neglect prevention and intervention programming to the community, with a full listing of services available for view on the updated website midlandcac.org.
Kevin Heye, Executive Director at Midland Child Advocacy Center shared, “We are excited for what the future has in store for our organization and the people we serve.” He went on the say, “we cannot do this alone; it takes everyone in the community to make sure all children are safe and have a trusted adult they can talk to.” The CAC receives funding from Children Trust Michigan, Children’s Advocacy Centers of Michigan, United Way of Midland County, H.H. Dow and Grace A. Dow Foundation, Gerstacker Foundation, Strosacker Foundation, Midland Area Community Foundation, in addition to local civic organizations, businesses, and individuals.
Over the past 9 months, the CAC has been working with Annie Stout, Founder and Creative Director with Paper Heart Design Co. Stout has led the team through a design process, creating new branding for the organization that incorporates the essence of Midland Child Advocacy Center; a place of hope for children and their families. The new logo features a pinwheel, the national symbol for child abuse prevention, serving as an uplifting reminder of the safe and loving childhood all children deserve.
This summer, the CAC will celebrate 45 years of protecting families in Midland County with a formal ribbon cutting event in partnership with the Midland Business Association (MBA) on Wednesday August 7 th at 4:00pm at Midland CAC located at 2716 Jefferson Ave. Midland, Michigan. The updated branding will be publicly unveiled during the event and all are welcome to attend.
